Humane Education

DuPage County Animal Services (DCAS) offers robust educational programs for children, teens, and adults designed to:

• Promote safe, responsible relationships between pets and people
• Enhance the human-animal bond
• Encourage compassion for animals and people
• Inspire others to act on behalf of animals and promote compassionate animal care within their communities

The DCAS Humane Education department can create content to meet your specific needs. Program types include but are not limited to:

• Virtual webinars that can be offered live or pre-recorded
  • To view past webinars visit the DCAS YouTube page
• In-person presentations, seminars, and workshops- as allowed following social distancing guidelines- for classrooms, daycares, park districts, libraries, and other organizations
• Guided reading activities

Special Events

Rabies Tags & Facts

Rabies is a deadly viral disease that attacks the nervous system. Rabies can be transmitted via contact (typically through a bite) with saliva or tissues from the nervous system of an infected animal. While incidents of rabies in domestic animals is rare, DuPage County does experience regular occurrences of rabies in bats. Owner Surrenders

DuPage County Animal Services (DCAS) is an open admission shelter. We accept all domestic animals regardless of health, temperament, age, and/or space availability. While we do our best to re-home as many animals as possible, humane euthanasia is a possibility. We often receive animals that other limited admission shelters turn away. We do try our absolute best to re-home as many animals as possible, however we cannot make any guarantees. Each animal is unique and evaluated on a case-by-case basis when evaluating potential outcomes.

Affordable Care

DuPage County Animal Services offers a Spay and Neuter Voucher to DuPage County residents that receive SNAP and/or Social Security Disability Insurance. Please visit our Affordable Veterinary Care Web Page to apply for a Spay and Neuter Voucher and to view other low cost options.
