Family Self-Sufficiency
Family Self- Sufficiency empowers individuals to take control of their lives so they may become independent, productive members of their community.
Family Self-Sufficiency (FSS) offers comprehensive case management and supportive services to assist families in reaching their personal, and professional self-sufficiency goals. FSS Case Managers help participants develop career plans, reach family goals,
and obtain services with the goal of achieving economic self-sufficiency. FSS participants may receive services for up to five years.
Eligibility
To be eligible for Family Self-Sufficiency one must either:
- Have a projected yearly income at or below the income guidelines for their family size
- Live in DuPage County
- Be at least 18 years of age
- Have at least one child below age 18 living in the household
OR - Hold a Housing Choice Voucher from the DuPage Housing Authority
- Reside in an eligible area
- Be at least 18 years of age
- Be listed as head of household for purposes of income eligibility or rent
Family Self-Sufficiency may also be offered to DuPage County Community Services clients actively engaged in a housing stability plan and demonstrate grant eligibility
on entry (eligibility varies by grant).
