Residents Invited to Provide Input on County Programs, Spending
DuPage County residents have the chance to weigh in on their priorities by participating in this year’s County budget survey. The survey is now available online at www.surveymonkey.com/s/dupagebudgetsurvey
Each year, the DuPage County Board gathers public opinion as it shapes the next year’s budget, determining spending levels for all of the County’s programs. Finance Chairman Paul Fichtner said the survey coincides with the regular budget process as officials determine spending levels for Fiscal Year 2015, which will begin on December 1.
“We have always received thoughtful feedback from our residents through our budget surveys,” said Fichtner. “We look forward to engaging the public through this process and hearing what our residents tell us they value in terms of community needs and services.”
Chairman Dan Cronin said the information collected from the survey will be taken into consideration during budget discussions over the next few months.
“The budget survey provides the county board members and staff with invaluable information that assists in our financial decisions. Our goal is to create a financial plan that funds our most vital initiatives, such as social service programs and road construction projects, that truly meet the community’s needs,” he said.
The survey is the first opportunity for residents to share their opinions and to get involved in the budget process. Once the proposed budget is unveiled by Cronin in September, several hearings will be planned throughout the County for residents to learn more about the financial plan.
