DuPage County Hosting Public Hearing on Application for HUD Competitive Grant Funding

DuPage County will hold a public hearing regarding its application for a competitive grant opportunity from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) on Tuesday, Oct. 20  at 7 p.m. at the DuPage County Administration Building, 421 N. County Farm Rd., Wheaton in room 1-500B.

DuPage County is eligible to receive HUD Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funding as a competitive application process under the CDBG - National Disaster Resilience Competition (NDRC). The CDBG-NDRC will award up to $1 billion to communities that have been struck by natural disasters in recent years. The competition, which involves two phases, promotes resiliency strategies to better prepare communities for future storms and other extreme events.

DuPage County submitted the Phase 1 application in March, which identified the unmet needs from the April 2013 flood - for which the County is eligible. In June, the County was notified that they would be advancing to Phase 2, which involves the creation of specific projects and programs to help address unmet needs and mitigate for future severe weather events.

The County's CDBG-NDRC Phase 2 application is open for public comment through Saturday, Oct. 24, 2015. To view the draft application or to submit comments electronically, visit

The location of the public hearing is accessible to people with disabilities. Anyone who wants to attend the hearing who requires special accommodation for language assistance, hearing impairment, physical or other disability may also call (630) 407-6706 prior to the public hearing to be sure that their needs are met the night of the event.
