The DuPage County Board on Tuesday approved providing nearly $5 million to local park districts and fire protection districts to provide relief from the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Board provided $1.9 million to local park districts and $3.1 million to local fire protection districts. Fund were provided through the federal American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA), which provided DuPage County with more than $179 million to assist with recovery efforts and expenses related to COVID-19. Examples of grants being funded include enhanced air filtration and HVAC systems, expanded broadband access, supplies of personal protective equipment, and enhanced cleaning and disinfection supplies.
Park districts receiving funds from DuPage County include the Addison, Bartlett, Bensenville, Bloomingdale, Burr Ridge, Carol Stream, Fox Valley, Glen Ellyn, Itasca, Lisle, Lombard, Naperville, Oak Brook, Oak Brook Terrace, Roselle, St. Charles, Westmont, Wheaton, Winfield, Wood Dale, and Woodridge park districts.
DuPage County provided financial assistance to Addison, Bartlett, Bensenville, Bloomingdale, Carol Stream, Darien, Fox River, Glenside, Itasca, Lisle, Tristate, Warrenville, West Chicago, and Wood Dale fire protection districts.
