Responsibilities

The Board of Health ensures that all state laws and county ordinances regarding the preservation of health are upheld through observation and enforcement. To this end, the Board of Health authorizes and executes any necessary health inspections and investigations in DuPage County. The Board of Health also promulgates rules and regulations that set forth minimum standards for programs and performance. It is also responsible for making health information readily available to the citizens of DuPage County. The DuPage County Board of Health strives to promote physical and emotional health; prevent illness, injury, and disability; and protect the citizens of DuPage County from environmental risk factors.

Second Thursday of each month at 6:15 pm at the Health Department Building.  View agendas and minutes.

Term

3 years - County Board members serve 1 year terms

Appointed By

County Chairman with the advice and consent of the County Board.

Compensation

President receives $400 per month and trustees receive $200 per month

Qualifications

At least 2 members must be physicians licensed to practice medicine in Illinois and all its branches. At least 1 member must be a dentist licensed in Illinois. Two members must be members of the County Board. At least one member must have experience in the field of mental health.
