Winfield Creek Watershed Plan
About
The DuPage
County Board approved the original Winfield Creek Watershed Plan in 1994. Due
to significant rainfall events that occurred in 2008 and 2010, the communities
of Winfield, Wheaton and Carol Stream asked that DuPage County reevaluate the
Winfield Creek Watershed Plan. The County has divided the watershed planning
efforts into three phases within the Watershed. The first phase involves flood
control improvements within the Village of Winfield. The second, and eventually the third phase, investigates flood control improvements through the remainder of the
watershed and water quality projects throughout the watershed. Using Illinois EPA Section 319 funds, DuPage County also created a Winfield Creek Water Quality Watershed-Based Plan to address water quality concerns and provide opportunity for improvement.
