DuPage County Stormwater Management Supports Township Projects with ARPA Grant

The DuPage County Stormwater Management Planning Committee voted Tuesday to approve recipients of its American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) township grant program. The Committee selected seven projects from five local township road districts that will improve flood control countywide.

“The townships were not eligible to receive their own batch of ARPA funding, so this was a very important initiative here at the County,” said DuPage County Stormwater Management Committee Chairman Jim Zay. “Townships have a lot of responsibility when it comes to protecting homes and businesses from flooding, and the purpose of this grant is to support some of that work.”

The grant awards funding for shovel-ready projects that demonstrate flood protection and resilience measures. The Stormwater Committee awarded $1.1 million to the township projects. The grant recipients include Bloomingdale Township, Downers Grove Township, Milton Township, Naperville Township and Wayne Township.

In total, DuPage County was allotted nearly $180 million through federal ARPA funding, which is being used by County departments and entities countywide for applicable projects and initiatives. To learn more, visit www.dupagecounty.gov/ARPA
