Candidate Filing Information

In this area, prospective candidates for office will find information and forms necessary to move forward with running for office.  Prospective candidates are advised to seek legal counsel as to their qualifications for office, the proper method for completing the petition forms with respect to the office sought, the number of signatures required, the qualifications of the signatories and circulators, filing dates, as well as other mandatory requirements.

General Primary Elections

Prospective candidates seeking information can download the County Offices, County Board, Forest Preserve and Committeeperson petition packets (PDF) or they can be picked up in the Election Division office.  Packets are made available approximately 7 days prior to the first day to start circulating petitions.  First day to start circulating petitions is: To be announced for the upcoming election.

Consolidated Elections

Prospective candidates seeking information can download the School Board petition packets (PDF) or they can be picked up in the Election Division office.  Packets are made available approximately 7 days prior to the first day to start circulating petitions.  First day to start circulating petitions is: Tuesday, September 20, 2022

Prospective candidate filing materials (except for School Districts) for Consolidated Elections may be obtained and are filed with the district office of the unit of government for which the office is sought.

Additional Information

Election laws prescribe the forms to be submitted in seeking nomination to office. The DuPage County Election Division has prepared suggested forms for petitions, statements of candidacy and loyalty oaths.
