DuPage County State’s Attorney Bob Berlin Honored as Governmental Leader of the Year by DuPage Mayors and Managers Conference

Conference notes Berlin’s commitment to public safety in their selection

DuPage County State’s Attorney Bob Berlin was honored as the DuPage Mayors and Managers Conference’s Governmental Leader of the Year at the Conference’s annual Legislative Reception and Dinner held last night at the Lisle/Naperville Hilton. The Conference recognized Berlin for his instrumental role in working with our legislators in shaping the SAFE-T Act trailer bill HB 1095, and his advocacy on behalf of local governments throughout the collaborative negotiations with legislators and other advocates.  Conference President and Darien Mayor Joseph Marchese presented the award to Berlin in front of approximately two hundred attendees including Speaker of the Illinois House of Representatives Emanuel Chris Welch, Senate President Don Harmon, DuPage County Board Vice Chairman Michael Childress, Senate Minority Leader John Curran, House Minority Leader Tony McCombie, numerous bi-partisan State Representatives and Senators as well as several DuPage County Board members.

“I am truly honored to accept this award on behalf of my entire office as well as law enforcement throughout the County,” Berlin said. “Public safety is a collaborative effort. The support my office receives from law enforcement throughout the County is extraordinary and for that I thank them. I also thank members of this Conference for their support of their local police departments. A mutual commitment to public safety is vital to fulfill our mission of seeking justice for the people of DuPage County with integrity, courage, and professionalism. Public safety is an issue that affects us all, regardless of which political party you belong to, as evidenced by those in attendance tonight. I thank the Conference for this recognition, particularly President Joseph Marchese and Vice President Phil Suess.”

“State’s Attorney Berlin is a champion for public safety in DuPage County communities,” said Marchese. “He has consistently collaborated with municipalities across the county to decrease crime and improve public safety. The Conference is honored to present him with this award.”

Founded in 1962, the DuPage Mayors and Managers Conference is a council of thirty-five municipal governments in DuPage County whose membership is comprised of both elected and appointed officials. The Conference, which is a not-for-profit organization supported by membership dues and grants, is dedicated to addressing municipal public policy issues and fostering intergovernmental cooperation for DuPage communities and the state as a whole.
