DuPage County Animal Services (DCAS) is the county’s sole public animal shelter and control agency. The mission of DCAS is to protect the health, safety and welfare of people and pets throughout DuPage County.

DCAS cares for the community’s lost, homeless, stray, injured, sick, neglected and abandoned animals.

  • Response to animal emergencies and public safety incidents involving animals for unincorporated areas of DuPage County
  • Education and enforcement of the community’s responsible pet ownership laws
  • Help to neighborhoods to resolve animal nuisance disputes

  • Assistance to local law enforcement

  • Animal abuse/neglect or potentially dangerous dogs (Unincorporated DuPage County)
  • Animal bites
  • Rabies vaccination compliance

Meet Adoptable Kittens Every Saturday

Our foster kittens will be at shelter ready to meet new families every Saturday! If you're ready to add a kitten to your family, follow these steps: 

  1. Fill out a cat application
  2. Call our office team to make an appointment to attend a Full House Kitten Saturday
  3. Come to the shelter and meet your new family member!

Adoption & Animal Viewing

By appointment only. Visit the Adopt page to review our adoption process. If interested in adopting, please complete an adoption application found on the Available Animals page and email to the shelter at A staff member will reach out to schedule an appointment once an application has been approved.

Owner Surrendered animals

DuPage County Residents: Owner surrendered animals are accepted by appointment only, Monday-Friday.  Call (630) 407-2800 and dial '0' to make an appointment.

Out of County Residents: are required to contact their local animal control / animal shelter first.  Out of county surrenders are accepted on a space-available basis and by appointment only, Monday-Friday.  Call (630) 407-2800 and dial '0' for more information.
