Rabies Tags & Facts

Rabies is a deadly viral disease that attacks the nervous system. Rabies can be transmitted via contact (typically through a bite) with saliva or tissues from the nervous system of an infected animal. While incidents of rabies in domestic animals are rare, DuPage County does experience regular occurrences of rabies in bats. Please visit Rabies Facts for more information on the signs and symptoms and what you can do to help control rabies.

Rehome Your Pet

If you need to rehome an animal, please visit Rehome Your Pet for more information.

DuPage County Animal Services (DCAS) is an open admission shelter. We accept all domestic animals regardless of health, temperament, age, and/or space availability. We often receive animals other limited admission shelters turn away. We try our absolute best to rehome as many animals as possible, however we cannot make any guarantees and humane euthanasia is a possibility. Each animal is unique and evaluated on a case-by-case basis.
