Construction of electrical infrastructure upgrades to the Woodridge-Greene Valley and the Knollwood Wastewater Reclamation Facilities has been awarded to Aldridge Electric, Inc. at the April 12, 2022 DuPage County Board Meeting. This project includes replacing the electrical systems at both facilities, including the main switch gears, underground cables, substations, and backup electrical generators. The project will provide improved reliability and resiliency to the electric systems for these two facilities serving DuPage County. The project is financed by the Water Pollution Control State Revolving Fund (SRF). The SRF program is administered by the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency and receives a portion of its money to fund these types of projects from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.
In March 2021, the DuPage County Public Works Department will commence with the construction of the Nordic Wastewater Treatment Plant Rehabilitation Project at the Nordic Park Wastewater Treatment Plant located at 649 S. Rohlwing Road, Itasca, IL 60143. The Nordic Wastewater Treatment Plant Rehabilitation Project is financed by the Clean Water State Revolving Fund (SRF). The SRF program is administered by the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency and receives a portion of its money to fund these types of projects from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. The project includes improvements to the site piping and Raw Sewage Pumping/Screening Structure, construction of a new Operations Structure, Biological Process, as well as two new Tertiary Clarifiers, UV disinfection, RAS/WAS pumping, and Sludge Storage. In addition, the project also includes upgrades to the electrical and SCADA systems. Once complete, it will improve water quality for area residents and businesses in DuPage County, near Irving Park Road and Lake Street along Route 53. The SRF programs operate in each state to provide communities the resources necessary to build, maintain, and improve the infrastructure that protects one of our most valuable resources: water.
