DuPage County Animal Services (DCAS) is the county’s sole public animal shelter and control agency. The mission of DCAS is to protect the health, safety and welfare of people and pets throughout DuPage County.

DCAS cares for the community’s lost, homeless, stray, injured, sick, neglected and abandoned animals.

    -Instructor will email registrants payment and location instructions. Please note, registration is not confirmed until payment is processed.

    -Slots are available first come, first served.

    -This course teaches first aid techniques to address the most common emergencies that can occur with small and large dogs as well as cats. This course will train you to notice abnormalities and detect early warning signs in pets. You will also learn essential pre-vet care and life saving techniques for those times when immediate action can make all the difference.

    -Please bring bottled water and a bagged lunch.

Adoption & Animal Viewing

By appointment only. Visit the Adopt page to review our COVID-19 adoption process. If interested in adopting please complete an adoption application found on the Available Animals page and email to the shelter at A staff member will reach out to schedule an appointment once an application has been received.

Owner Surrendered animals

DuPage County Residents: Owner surrendered animals are accepted by appointment only, Monday-Friday.  Call (630) 407-2800 and dial '0' to make an appointment.

Out of County Residents: are required to contact their local animal control / animal shelter first.  Out of county surrenders are accepted on a space-available basis and by appointment only, Monday-Friday.  Call (630) 407-2800 and dial '0' for more information.
