The DuPage County Board voted Tuesday to allocate $500,000 to County food pantries that are struggling due to the demand for food as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The County approved the following disbursements:
- $57,500 each to Loaves & Fishes Community Services, People's Resource Center, Neighborhood Food Pantries, and West Suburban Community Pantry;
- $25,000 each to HCS Family Services, the Outreach House, Glen Ellyn Food Pantry, Bensenville-Wood Dale Pantry, and Elmhurst Yorkfield Food Pantry;
- $12,500 each to Lisle Township Pantry, Wayne Township Pantry, Bloomingdale Township Food Pantry, Addison Township, Fish of Downers Grove, York Township Pantry, Milton Township Pantry, ICNA Relief Food Pantry, and Itasca Food Pantry; and
- $8,125 each to Salvation Army Oakbrook, Roselle UMC Community, R.E.A.C.H. Ministries Inc., and Village Baptist Church.
The Board gave the same food pantries a combined $1 million in November of 2022.
